Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world had expressed its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
