'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
