Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition 30 months following their departure for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted an open training session on the home pitch on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
